Advice

What To Do When You Start Making Money: You might already be at this point, or you might not, but this is probably one of the most important sections here. As you start to make more money, you are automatically going to want to start spending more money. You have to be extremely careful when it comes to this because it is so easy to lose all of your money very quickly. The more money you have should be reinvested into buying more inventory, required follow slots, investments, etc. At the same time though, there really is not any point in making a bunch of money if you aren’t going to at least spend some of it on yourself and what makes you happy. If you see something you really like, go ahead and buy it, but please do not spend $1,000 on a new pair of shoes when you’ve made $1,500 all year. I guess what I am trying to say is do not be stupid. Put most of your profits back into your business, with an occasional expenditure on yourself.

Advice From Others: Awhile back I asked a bunch of resellers what their best advice is for new resellers. Here are the things they said:

  • Be careful if something is too good to be true. If it is, don’t buy it

  • Be active and engage with other resellers

  • Sell on multiple platforms

  • Don’t be stupid and impulsive, be smart with your decisions

  • Don’t be afraid to ask for help

  • Don’t be afraid of risks, take them

  • Stay away from fakes and don’t give a f* about what others say

  • Use your brain (this is one of the simplest but best advice you can get)

  • It is okay to lose money

  • Build connections

  • Patience is key

  • Relationships > money

  • Don’t burn bridges

  • Do not give up no matter what struggles you go through

  • If you overpaid for an item, sell it and take the loss. Don’t force yourself to make a profit on everything you sell

  • Learn from your failures

  • Spread the word about your account at school for more followers and buyers

  • Grow first before going for insane profits

  • Join a good cook group (good thing you already did that ;)

  • Never flake on someone

  • Invest in a required follow slot

  • Follow as many resellers as you can

  • Do deals with bigger accounts to increase trust people have in you

  • Always be legit no matter how tempting it is to scam someone

My Advice For You

In the beginning, don’t focus on making money at all. Personally I made $2000 during my entire first year (2018) and just spent a lot of time learning the game. Then throughout my second year (2019) I made between 1-3k a month. The knowledge I learned during 2018 is what allowed me to scale so much during 2019.

You are going to lose money, it’s just how it works. You are going to get scammed. You are going to do a terrible deal. Accept it and move on. You cannot expect every deal to go your way. That not only is not how reselling works, but it is also not how life works in general. It’s cliche but the truth: “it's not about how many times you get knocked down, it’s about how many times you get back up”

Do not scam someone. First off it is not morally right. Karma will always come back and bite you. Next, you are automatically going to get caught at some point so wouldn’t you rather have a long term business than a short term cash grab?

It doesn’t matter who you are, what you came from, or how much money you have, anyone can do anything they want in this world.

Never let anyone tell you what you can and cannot do. The reason people tell you that you cannot do something is because they know that they are too lazy to do it themselves. Don’t let people drag you down to their level. One of my favorite quotes is this: “Never listen to anyone who never did exactly what you’re trying to do because you’ll end up not doing it just like them” -Scott Hilse. Reread that a couple times and remember that quote next time you take advice from someone.

I wish all of you the best success in your reselling career. If you have any questions at all, I am here for you so do not hesitate to message me or open a ticket on discord.
